Port Blair, Nov. 11: The Andaman College Teachers Association (ACTA), has organised a Seminar on “Role of Teachers in Nation Building” on 10th November 2022 in the Seminar Room, JNRM. On the occasion, the Chief Guest Shri D. Bhanudas, All India General Secretary, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari said that patriotism is to be inculcated in our actions and so that the teachers be living examples for the students for the nation building.

Port Blair, Nov. 11: As part of the sensitization on cleanliness among the islanders the Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Anthropological Survey of India, Port Blair carried out a special cleanliness programme in collaboration with India Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Port Blair today. Special cleanliness drive was carried out by clearing the bushes and garbage from the premises of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Port Blair. The ashram children took part in this cleanliness drive and a message was given to the children towards sensitizing about cleanliness of the surroundings where they live in.

Port Blair, Nov. 11: Childhood pneumonia continues to be the topmost infectious killer among under-five children, contributing to 16.2 percent of under-five deaths in India. World Pneumonia Day will be observed tomorrow (Nov.12) with an aim to accelerate action against Childhood Pneumonia by generating awareness on protection, prevention and treatment aspects, to enhance early identification and care seeking behaviours (management) among parents and caregivers; and also to promote Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) and awareness generation on indoor and outdoor pollution. SAANS (Social Awareness & Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) campaign will ensure health system strengthening and community awareness towards childhood pneumonia. The SAANS campaign from 12th November, 2022 to 28th February 2023 will carry the tagline ‘Pneumonia nahi, toh bachpan sahi’ which clearly establishes the positive impact of a Pneumonia Free Childhood.

Port Blair, Nov. 11: One COVID positive case has been detected today in A&N Islands from incoming flight passenger who arrived yesterday. Today, 15 flights with 2082 passengers arrived, out of which,1867 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 73 passengers and the reports are awaited.
