Port Blair, Oct. 31: Islands’ young chess player, R Kashthuri Bhai, a class VIII student of GDMS Middle Point, Port Blair has shown again in an international FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2022 that was held at Jerusalem College of Engineering, Chennai, Tamil Nādu from 29th to 30th October 2022. She played brilliantly and secured second position in Under 14 Girls category and award with a trophy and certificate.

Port Blair, Oct. 31: To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was observed by the A&N Police. On the occasion, an exemplary ceremonial March Past by 07 Police contingents comprising of Executive Police 02 platoons each of Gents & Ladies, IRBn, Fire Service, Home Guard and 02 platoons of A&N Police Band was presented from Dugong Guest House (PBMC) to Government Press, Port Blair in the evening at 1600 hrs. Huge gathering of general public witnessed this function at Govt. Girls Sr. Secondary School, Port Blair. The entire function was held under the supervision of Smti. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (AP/SAP). 

Port Blair, Oct. 31: Along with the rest of the nation, the ANTCC also observed the 38th Death Anniversary of Late. Indira Gandhi, the only Women Prime Minister of India. The ANTCC also observed the Birth Anniversary of Late. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the Ironman of India which falls on the same day, at Gandhi Bhavan, Port Blair.

Port Blair, Oct. 31: Acting on a specific intelligence input received from reliable source, Police team from Central Crime Station consisting of SI M.A Rasheed, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur and Constables N. Thangaraj, K. Rajendran & Raja Rao intercepted one person namely Sujit Kumar Biswas S/o Sh. Khokan Biswas R/o Krishnapur, Diglipur now at Radhanagar, Swaraj Dweep at VSI Airport who arrived at Port Blair from Kolkata on 31/10/2022 by flight. During checking of his personnel belongings, 1.760 Kgs of Ganja which was clandestinely concealed in the bag was seized and accused person was arrested observing all codal formalities.
