Port Blair, March 27: In exercise of the power conferred under M.V. Act 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988) read with Administrations Notification dated 10th March, 2008, the District Magistrate, South Andaman has notified for the information of all concerned that the road from Pema Junction to New Bimblitan School is closed for a period of one week w.e.f March 23 to 29, 2024.

Port Blair, March 26: As part of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the process for filing of nominations by the contesting candidates is continuing. The Office of the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency (District Office, South Andaman) is receiving the nomination papers from the contesting candidates. Four more candidates filed their nominations on March 26, 2024.

Port Blair, March 26: The team of Police Station Aberdeen has arrested a thief for the theft of a Motor Cycle from Junglighat. 

On 14.01.2024, a written complaint was received at Police Station Aberdeen regarding the theft of a Motor Cycle bearing Registration No. AN01G/9403. The Complainant stated that the above vehicle was parked at his home parking near old Chirayu Hospital, Junglighat on 04.01.2024 at around 9.00 PM. On the next day i.e. on 05.01.2024 at around 5.00 AM, he found that his bike was missing from his parking space. Upon this written complaint, an FIR vide No. 10/2024, dated 14/01/2024, U/s 379 IPC was registered at Police Station Aberdeen and investigation entrusted to SI P.K Jabbar.

Port Blair, March 26: The much awaited awareness series on Dugong and Nature Conservation commenced today at Bageecha, Port Blair. The series is being organised by the Wildlife Institute of India in association with Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi and 4 Seasons.

The series commenced with an awareness session packed with fun and knowledge for the residents of Love Children’s Home, Manglutan. During the awareness session, videos on Dugong, Games and Interactive Session were organised by Ms. Swapnali Gole, Researcher, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The children learnt about their State Animal and the need to protect them. They also vowed to spread the word across on the need to protect the endangered species Dugong.

Port Blair, March 26: The Election Observers Shri. B. N. Singh, IAS, General Observer and Shri. Ravi Joseph Lokku, IPS, Police Observer today held meeting with Shri. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Returning Officer, Andaman and Nicobar Parliamentary Constituency and other Nodal Officers.

The Observers were given a brief presentation by the Returning Officer on the preparation of the A & N Parliamentary Constituency to ensure that the elections to the House of People are conducted in a fair and impartial manner.
