Port Blair, April 9: In order to uphold the integrity of the electoral process to achieve the predominant objective by ensuring level playing field towards conduct of free, fair, peaceful and inducement-free elections, the Election Commission of India has issued strict Poll Day instructions on movement of vehicles and prohibitions on canvassing near Polling Stations & Candidate Election Booth, which have been summarised as under:

Port Blair, April 9: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), after diligent adherence to procedural formalities and rigorous inspection processes has awarded registration certificate/license to the Messes and Canteens operating under the India Reserve Battalion, Armed Police Unit, Police Lines and Police Training School, Prothrapur. This highlights the commitment of these units of A&N Police to adhere to hygiene and safety standards, ensuring the delivery of nutritious and wholesome meals to the dedicated Police/IRBn personnel / recruits.

Kalighat, April 9: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 09/0/2024, the Kalighat Police once again successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at Talbagan forest. Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat formed a specialized team consisting of PCs Sushil Sarkar and Ranjit Biswas. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 700 liters of Lehan, along with other bhatti materials used in the production process. These materials were discreetly hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Port Blair, April 9: In an effort to achieve 100% active participation of the electorate in the current General Elections-2024, the Election Commission of India has taken special initiatives Vide Order No.3/4/4/ID/2024/SDR/Vol. I Dt.  19th March, 2024, to encourage the electorate to exercise their most basic democratic franchise. Those who are not able to produce the EPIC, shall produce one of the alterative photo identity documents for establishing their identity viz. Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card Issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian Passport, Pension document with photograph, Service Identity Cards with Photograph issued to employees by Central /State Govt./PSUs/Public Limited Companies, Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, M/o Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
