Port Blair, March 24: In view of the forthcoming Parliamentary Election 2024, the general public have been once again informed that the Election Commission of India has prescribed special procedures in addition to the normal procedure for voting by Voters belonging to the Senior Citizen (85+ years), Physical Disabled (Benchmark Disability 40% and above), Covid affected/suspected and Essential Services categories, who cannot vote in person at their respective polling stations.

Port Blair, March 24: The Nagarpalika Shramik Sangh has organised a mass demonstration in front of the Port Blair Municipal Council Head Office at Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair on 22.03.2024 afternoon demanding (1) regularization of services of daily rated mazdoors and (2) grant of 1/30th of pay plus DA to the remaining workers of PBMC. 

A large number of workers of Port Blair Municipal Council attended the programme. 

Port Blair, March 22: The Office of the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency (District Office, South Andaman) has started receiving the nomination papers from the contesting candidates. The notification for election to the lone Parliamentary Constituency for UT was issued on March 20, 2024. Shri Bishnu Pada Ray of Bharatiya Janata Party today handed over four sets of nomination papers to the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS at the Office of the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman) in person.
