Port Blair, Oct 3: CITU, A&N State Committee has organized a Seminar today at Port Blair in connection with the International Action Day, call for which was given by the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU).  This year’s theme for the International Action Day was “Work with Rights, No to Flexibilities and No to Exploitation.”  D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU State Committee, who was the main speaker, dealt in brief various problems confronted by the working class all over the world in general and those in India in particular. 

Port Blair, Oct. 3: ICAR- Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair receives patent for an invention entitled “Novel acaricide compositions for veterinary topical applications and the method of preparation thereof’’ under Patents Act, 1970 (Patent No: 455756) on 29th September, 2023. The invention is a process for developing oil based herbal topical formulation as an acaricide to treat tick infestation in livestock.

Port Blair, Oct. 3: A National Conference on Spices, Aromatic and Medicinal Plants for Economic Prosperity and Ecological Sustainability - 2023 is being organized by Andaman Science Association (ASA), Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands in collaboration with Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development (DASD), Kerala from October 5th to 6th, 2023 in hybrid mode.

The event aims at providing platform for scientific deliberations on various aspects of conservation, cultivation, crop protection, crop improvement, postharvest operations, value addition, utilization and entrepreneurship development in spices, medicinal and aromatic plants.

Port Blair, Oct. 3: Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Committee Member, BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI, wrote a letter to Chief Secretary, A&N Administration for making immediate alternative arrangements for operationalizing Ferry Boats to travel between Long Island and Yeratta

In his letter he wrote that on the basis of a WARNING NOTICE for immediate stoppage of operations, dated 21st September 2023 issued by Port Management Board, all the shipping and other activities has been stopped at Yerratta Jetty with immediate effect.

Port Blair, Oct. 3: More than 500 players from across India are participating in the 36th National under 11 Chess Championship 2023 at Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Among the participants are four boys and three girls from Andaman & Nicobar Islands Viz. J S Virat, M Tanish, P Vijay Siva Sai of VKV Lambaline and Krishay of NCS Port Blair who are participating in Under 11 Open Category. Similarly, in girl’s sections S Sarisha of KV 1, D Charvi of VKV Lamabaline and Parnita of Carmel school are taking part.
