Port Blair, Dec. 3: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC along with Reverend Catholic Bishop Alex Dias met with the Lt Governor on today at Rajniwas  and requested him for a piece of land measuring about one acre in and around Port Blair for a grave yard to be used by the Christian community.

Advocating for the new grave yard, Sharma has stated that a large number of population of Christian Community are staying in and around Port Blair who have been allotted a piece of land near Gymkhana Ground by the A&N Administration to use the same as graveyard a long time back. This graveyard has now become unusable for the reason that there is no place left for further burial. Due to over burial of deceased bodies, pieces of corpse come out at the time of digging fresh grave, which not only is a painful sight to the community who have lost their near and dear ones but also not taken as good omen for fresh burial ceremony.

Sharma has also requested to the Lt Governor to kindly solve the problems of the Catholic Community of Gandhi Nagar, Campbell Bay. The Lt Governor was kind enough to give patience hearing and has assured to look into these matters on priority basis.
