Port Blair, May 1: The Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to install 5 MW Electric Power Capacity DG Set at Sitanagar, Diglipur Power House.

In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Kalpong Hydro Electric Power Project, which serves as the primary source of electricity for the region, faces significant challenges during the dry season (February to July) due to low water levels. This results in an insufficient supply of electricity to meet the needs of the local community, leading to frequent power outages and damage to electronic equipment.

Port Blair, May 1: May Day was celebrated all over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands jointly by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions today (1.5.2024) by organizing various programmes.  

The main programme was held at Port Blair. The May Day Rally was taken out from Delanipur junction, which, after making a round of the important points of Port Blair town culminated in a public meeting at Tiranga Park. Hundreds of workers participated in the May Day Rally at Port Blair. May Day Rally was led by R. Surendran Pillai, B. Chandrachoodan, D. Ayyappan, M. Boominathan, Anand Rajan, M. Yugandar among others.  Members of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers Association also joined the procession.

Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, DGP, ANI, the Police Training School, Prothrapur of Andaman & Nicobar Police is hosting a transformative two-day course on New Criminal Laws from 1st May to 2nd May 2024. This initiative aims to empower officials from various crucial stakeholder like judiciary, prosecution, law department, prison and others within the justice system.

Port Blair, May 1: The three New Criminal Laws are set to roll out on 1st July, 2024 ushering in an era of modernized, reformed criminal jurisprudence.

Andaman & Nicobar Police proudly announces the launch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Chatbot called “Naye Kanoon Mitra” on April 30, 2024 (Tuesday) by the DGP Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS in presence of IGP Smti Sindhu Pillai A., IPS; Shri Ajay Krishan Sharma, IPS; DIG Smti Monika Bhardwaj, IPS and other senior officers of Andaman & Nicobar Police. The chatbot has been created for the ease of understanding and referring to the three New Laws viz. Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).

Mayabunder, May 1: On 29th April 2024, the staff of PS Mayabunder successfully carried out a search operation in the Karmatang area, resulting in the recovery of illegal timber.

Under the direction of Inspector P.K Abdul Arif, SHO of PS Mayabunder, Police Constables Dilleshwar Rao and Sailen Pandey conducted the operation in Karmatang, Mayabunder, following intelligence inputs regarding illegal timber storage. During the operation, they recovered 48 pieces of Padauk timber and 26 pieces of Pema timber, measuring a total of 0.923 cubic meters.
