Port Blair, March 6: On 22nd Feb 2024, a complaint letter from Asst. Electoral Officer/ Tehsildar, Port Blair addressed to the SHO, PS Aberdeen was received against unknown persons for filling for deletions of various names listed in the Electoral Roll through online voter’s helpline apps. It was submitted in complaint that during the door to door survey conducted by BLOs for preparation of Electoral Roll, all persons whose names mentioned for deletion in Electoral Rolls through online mode were found alive and residing in the same part.

On the basis of the complaint, a preliminary enquiry was conducted and during the enquiry statements of BLOs were recorded and Form-7 submitted online was obtained. Form-7 is an application form for objections for proposed inclusion/ deletion of name in existing electoral roll.

Port Blair, March 6: On the 06th of March, 2024, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee held a massive protest demonstration under the leadership and direction of ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder and Chairman Campaign Committee Shri. TSG Bhasker in front of State Bank of India (SBI) Main Branch, Aberdeen Bazaar and Gandhi Statue.

The protest was organized to raise voice against the State Bank of India for supporting the Modi Government's decision to withhold the disclosure of Electoral Bond Donors publicly and to raise the issue of deletion of voters from the Electoral List.

Port Blair, March 6: On the basis of a report received from Intelligence agency, regarding suspicious anti-national activities of a staff engaged at Jetty area, a case has been registered at PS Central Crime Station, CID under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.

On investigation, it was revealed that a temporary staff namely P. Waseem, resident of Wright Myo, Bambooflat, had shared sensitive information related to national security with an unauthorized person. Their communication over Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp unveiled details on Naval ship schedules/movements.

Port Blair, March 6: CPI (M) has demanded to have a re-look of the proposal for establishment of the Deemed University in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and allow the present system of affiliation of the Colleges with the Pondicherry University, which is a highly acclaimed University in the country with a good NAAC grading to continue for the benefit of students and to save the higher educational institutions in the islands from total chaos and collapse.

Port Blair, Mar. 6: The Election Commission of India has issued strict directives regarding use of children in any election-related activities. Political Parties have been advised not to use children in election campaigns in any form whatsoever including distribution of posters/pamphlets or to participate in slogan shouting, campaign rallies, election meetings, etc. The Commission has conveyed ‘Zero Tolerance’ towards use of children in any manner during the electoral process by parties and candidates.
