NGGOs Express Serious Concern

Port Blair, July 23: The Non Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A & N islands has expressed serious concern over loopholes in strict implementation of preventive measures to contain spread of Covid – 19 in Government Offices and Schools. The General Secretary of the Association Shri T S Sreekumar said the lackadaisical attitude by some of the officers in implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) led to sealing of the Deputy Commissioners Office and all other offices in its premises at Port Blair.

Member of Parliament Asks Commissioner-cum-Secretary APWD to Take up Immediate Repairs

Port Blair, July 23: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter with the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (APWD), A&N Administration for early repair and renovation of rural road in Ferrargunj Tehsil namely (i) Rural road from Ferrargunj to Bambooflat via Wimberlygunj (ii) Rural road from Kadakachang  to Bambooflat via Andabeda (iii) Rural road from Saithan Khari to Ograbranj junction (iv) Road from Wmberly gunj to Shoal Bay (State Highway).

Port Blair, July 22: The residents of Mus village in Car Nicobar Island are living in fear as the land near the jetty has been witnessing massive soil erosion since the past 20 years. The foundation of the shoreline protection seawall was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi during his visit to Car Nicobar on 30th December 2018. However the construction work has not started yet and has created panic among the villagers living near the shoreline.
