Billiground, April 4: North & Middle Andaman District Police conducted third session of "Mahila Manch," an initiative dedicated to addressing the issues faced by women residing in the remote villages of the district. This time, Mahila Manch reached out to the women of Dharmapur village, in Billiground engaging in meaningful dialogue and offering support.

Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D)N&MA, led the session, interacting with the women of Dharmapur village with patience and empathy. She attentively listened to their concerns, assuring them of all possible assistance. During the session, the SP shed light on crucial topics such as silence on domestic violence, upbringing of teenage children.

Campbell Bay, April 4: As part of preparations for the General Elections-2024, Ms. Jyothi Kumari, IAS, DC Nicobar, Shri Sunny Gupta, IPS, SP Nicobar, Shri Abhishek Gulia, AC Campbell Bay and Shri Firoj Alam, SDPO Campbell Bay along with Sector Officers and other officials conducted two-day official visit to Campbell Bay Tehsil. The purpose of the visit was to assess the Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) available in the isolated and critical polling stations and engage with the residents of the far-flung Polling Booths in the region.

Ban Enacted Under Representation of People's Act, 1951 and Other Laws

Mayabunder, April 4: In a collaborative effort between the Police and Forest officials of Mayabunder, a significant breakthrough was achieved with the seizure of 2.100 kilograms of meat suspected to be from protected wildlife. During the joint operation, the team searched the area at Tugapur, Mayabunder.

Upon suspicion, the team conducted a thorough search of the backside of Sukanto Mistry’s house, where they discovered meat suspected to be of protected wildlife stored in a refrigerator. Upon interrogation, the accused, identified as Sukanto Mistry S/o Late Arbindo Mistry (35)yrs R/o Tugapur No.7 admitted to his involvement in the illegal activity.

Port Blair, April 4: As part of the arrangements being made in connection with the forthcoming General Election-2024 for the lone Parliamentary Seat of A & N Islands Parliamentary constituency, the Office of the Returning Officer, ANIPC has started preparation and commissioning of EVMs to be used for the polling on 19th April, 2024 (Poll Day).

The commissioning of the machines are being carried out in the Central Warehouse behind ITF Ground amidst heavy security arrangements and in the presence of representatives of political parties, agents of the contesting candidates. The Engineers from ECIL have also been deputed to ensure smooth commissioning of the EVMs.
