Port Blair, Mar. 5: An unfortunate incident occurred on 10th May, 2023, in which, a person namely D. Chiranjeev and a minor boy namely Dunna Praney died due to drowning at Baruva Village, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh while crossing river (salt water).

Port Blair, Mar. 5: The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has taken a significant step towards modernizing public service delivery by collaborating with DigiLocker to digitalize Ration Cards. This strategic partnership empowers beneficiaries by enabling them to access their Ration Cards conveniently through the DigiLocker app or Digilocker website. By simply entering their Ration Card number, users can instantly download and view their cards from any internet-enabled device.

Campbell Bay, Mar. 5: A comprehensive 3-days Training-cum-Demonstration program titled ‘Preparation of value-added products from fish and shellfish’ was conducted from 29th February to 02nd March, 2024 at Tribal Council Community Hall, Rajivnagar in Campbell Bay by the Department of Fisheries in association with ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT) Cochin. This programme was sponsored under the CIFT-Tribal Sub Plan.

Port Blair, Mar. 5: The District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be holding National Lok Adalat in the District Court Complex at Port Blair and Sub-Divisional Court Complex at Mayabunder and Circuit Court at Diglipur on 09-03-2024. Besides the compoundable nature of cases pending in different Courts, disputes at the pre-litigation stage will also be entertained by the National Lok Adalat for disposal upon consensual settlement between the parties. Pre-litigation disputes include NI Act cases u/s 138, money recovery cases, labour dispute cases, electricity and water bills cases (excluding non-compoundable), maintenance cases, civil disputes and disputes under the Consumer Protection Act, a press release from DLSA said.

Port Blair, March 5: Shri Mahashivratri will be celebrated at Shri Sarweshwar Mahadev Temple, Chinmaya Mission Port Blair on Friday 8th March 2024 with day long programme. The Auspicious day of Mahashivaratri will be beginning with Ganapati Homam at 6 am followed by Rudrabhishekam Pooja and Maha Mrutunjaya Homam. In the evening from 5.30 pm to 7.30 Shri Shiv Sahasranama Archana (chanting of one thousand name of Lord of shiva) will be held, after that Satsang, Bhajan Archana etc. will continue till next day morning 4 am.
