Port Blair, Sept. 30: The valedictory function of 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2023 by ICDS Urban and Ferrargunj Project was held at Tagore Auditorium, Middle Point today.  Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare) was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Director elaborated on the importance of millets in life. The programme was attended by the officers of Social Welfare and a large gathering of mothers.

Catphishing is a form of online abuse, wherein the cyber criminal makes use of various channels like instant messaging apps, SMS, online dating apps, social media platforms, porn sites etc., to lure the users into intimate video/audio chats and makes them pose nude or obtains revealing pictures from them. The fraudsters later make use of this material to harass, embarrass, threaten, exploit and blackmail the victims.

Port Blair, Sept. 29: The International Coordination Group for the India Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (ICG/IOTWS) of UNESCO in coordination with Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad (INCOIS) will be conducting Indian Ocean Wide Tsunami Communication Exercise (IOWave23) on 4th October, 2023 in India and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands will also participate in this exercise. The Indian Tsunami Early Warning System (ITEWS) at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad focuses primarily on monitoring and warning of Tsunamis in Indian Ocean.

Port Blair, Sept. 29: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma held a meeting on September 27, 2023, with the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. During the meeting, he raised pressing concerns regarding the deplorable condition of NH4, which has been causing great deal of hardships for the residents of North & Middle Andaman, as well as NH4 commuters.

Expressing deep concern for the deteriorating state of NH4, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma requested the Chief Secretary to initiate a daily ferry service between Port Blair and Rangat, as well as Rangat to Port Blair.

Harinagar, Sept. 29: A meeting was today organised by an NGO ‘Green Island Foundation’ at Harinagar Gram Panchayat Bhawan which was attended by the Zilla Parishad heads, Samiti members from Shivapuram, Basantipur, Harinagar, Swadeshnagar Gram Panchayat, Ex-Zilla Parishad, Ex-Samity, Ex-Pramukh, Ex- Pradhan and prominent citizens of the region. In the meeting a Citizen Forum for formed and it was decided to conduct strike and jail mass movement in the coming days if the A&N Administration does not take up the regional development works on priority.
