Shri M. Vinod, President, Andaman Association of Tour Operators along with all its members have greeted all the visiting tourists and islanders on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Vinod in his message said, “It gives me immense pleasure to greet you all on this World Tourism Day. This is a chance to reflect on the importance of our sector. Tourism is a pillar of our economies. It plays a central role in our societies and in our individual lives. And it offers solutions to some of our biggest challenges – including the climate emergency and the urgent need to shift to more sustainable economies”.

Port Blair, Sept. 26: The Committee on Subordinate Legislation of Lok Sabha headed by its Chairman, Shri Balashowry Vallabhaneni arrived here on a four-day visit to A&N Islands. The other members of Committee who arrived today include Shri N K Premachandran, Shri Chandeshwar Prasad, Shri Suresh Kumar Pujari and Dr. Amar Singh. Soon after arrival, the Committee proceed to Swaraj Dweep and held an informal discussion with the representatives of Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry on rules/regulations governing the organization at Hotel Taj Exotica. The other members of the Committee who are scheduled to arrive on Sept. 28 include Shri Su. Thirunavukkarasar, Shri Pinaki Misra, Shri Nama Nageswara Rao and Shri B Manickam Tagore.

Katchal, Sept. 26: An awareness programme on Women Safety and POCSO was organised on Sept.23, 2023 by the Police Personal, Police Station Katchal in the auditorium of GSSS Kapanga, to create awareness among students and teachers. During the programme, Sub Inspector, Shri Subramani, Station House Officer and team briefed about various sections dealing with sexual harassment, punishment and also highlighted about Nirbhaya Scheme, good and bad touch, juvenile law, care and protection. He urged students to raise complaints on such crimes.

Diglipur, Sept. 26: As part of Rashrtiya POSHAN Maah-2023, a POSHAN Panchayat was organized in coordination with Gram Panchayat, Sitanagar and Community Health Center, Diglipur by ICDS Project (Rural), Diglipur at Community Hall, Gram Panchayat, Sitanagar. During the event, for maximum coverage of services under Ayushman Bhavah, a campaign to ensure saturation coverage of heath schemes, a Health Mela was organized by Community Health Center, Diglipur wherein general health assessment of villagers were done by the Medical Officers, Health ID card (ABHA) under Ayushmaan Bharat Digital Mission was issued and a dental health assessment camp was also arranged.

Port Blair, Sept. 26: An awareness programme to sensitize the general public and youth regarding the various provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act 2012 was conducted at Yatri Niwas, Haddo, Ward No. 1 by ICDS, Urban Project in coordination with District Child Protection Unit, PRI, Health Department, Education Department & Police Department.  Awareness on different topics like child abuse, girl child safety, preventive measures, role of parents and care givers in bringing up to the children, service provided by the Govt. Department, rehabilitation, legal matters etc. were discussed with the public.
