Order Issued in the Interest of Overall Safety and Security of the Islanders

Port Blair, May 19: Keeping in view the increase in crime rate in the Islands and the apprehension that anti-social elements may make their hideouts clandestinely in the residential/commercial areas of the South Andaman District and North & Middle Andaman District and also to check the unlawful activities of these people who can cause breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity besides posing grave danger to human life and safety and injury to public property the District Magistrates of both the districts of Andaman have issued orders U/s 144 of the Cr. P. C as an emergency measure.

Port Blair, May 19: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested a permanent solution to prolonged power cuts in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, the Member of Parliament mentioned that in almost every part of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, people are facing multiple power cuts lasting several hours, making daily life exceedingly difficult.

Port Blair, May 19: Society for Promotion of Serve Humanity Among Youths (SPARSHA) successfully organized a day-long Nature Camp for students at Mt. Manipur, previously known as Mt. Harriet on Sunday 19th May, 2024. This event aimed to educate and inspire young minds about the importance of biodiversity, environmental conservation, and healthy living, saw an overwhelming participation students from various schools in South Andaman.

Port Blair, May 19: A free eye screening camp was organised by Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, Port Blair in association with Shri Sanjay Meshack, Ex-Councillor, PBMC today at #Bageecha, Prothrapur, Port Blair.

The camp which commenced at 10.00 am benefitted more than 55 beneficiaries who included truck drivers and needy people from in and around the area. The camp which was supposed to conclude by 2.00 pm had to extend as the number of walk-ins kept increasing.

Port Blair, May 19: The incredible talent, energy, and creativity of the students through captivating choreography and electrifying performances came alive at the concluding ceremony of MERAKI ‘24- the Annual Sports & Cultural Fest of ANIIMS at its campus at Corbyn’s Cove here this evening. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS graced the valedictory function as the chief guest. The Director, ANIIMS, Dr. Pragya Sharma, Doctors from G.B. Pant Hospital, faculties of ANIIMS and students were present on the occasion.
