Modi Addresses BJP Karyakartas in A&N Islands Through Video Conferencing

Port Blair, Aug 9: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today interacted with Bharatiya Janata Party Karyakartas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. During his interaction via video conferencing, the PM listened to the Party workers and talked at length about the Central Government’s development roadmap for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

COVID-19 Infection Rate at the Rate of 0.02 per cent in Andamans is Leading Islanders in a Dangerous Direction: Vishal Jolly

Port Blair, Aug 9: Meanwhile the Ex-State President, Shri Vishal Jolly apprised the Prime Minister that 0.27 percentage of population of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been affected due to COVID-19 as on date, which is increasing at the rate of 0.02 per cent on an average per day. The progress of COVID-19 infection in the islands is projecting a dangerous situation for the islanders. Our Union Territory is a very small territory with limited facilities.

BSNL A&N Islands Announces New Plans and Enhanced Data Volume in Existing Plant w.e.f. 10th August

Port Blair, Aug 9: On the eve of inauguration of prestigious Chennai - Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) connecting submarine optical fiber cable project by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, BSNL announces a bonanza in terms of high internet speed and multiple times increase in volume of data downloads to all its wireline and mobile customers in the Islands. This project and BSNL tariff plans will enable high speed internet access and associated   services to the people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair, Aug 9: To protect Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and keep them safe from COVID-19 pandemic, the Administration has taken steps to contain spread of COVID-19 infection among the tribes especially Jarawa who are more exposed to non-tribal passing through Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) and fishermen on the west coast. The other PVTGs such as Onges, Andamanese and Shompen are living in isolated settlements where contact with outsiders is very negligible.

Rangat, Aug 9: Till mid-June, everybody including the authorities here were very callous and thought that COVID-19 was well under control and not likely to spread in the community due to the physical isolation of various islands from one another. But ironically proving everyone wrong, Covid has reached almost all the densely populated Islands of South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman District. The tribal district of Nicobar is also no exception to this as it reached Car Nicobar.
