Port Blair, Aug. 21: The scariest situation for the aboriginal tribes of the Andaman Islands has turned into a reality, with as many as six members of Great Andamanese tribe testing positive to COVID-19.

Port Blair, Aug 21: Bharatiya Janata Party led by its State President Shri Ajoy Baiargi today requested the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), Andaman & Nicobar Administration to allow devotees to visit temple along with extended visiting time on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on 22nd August 2020, as the mentioned date happened to be Saturday, which under present conditions is a day of total lockdown. He further states that The Temple Management will be responsible for following/adherence to all social distancing norms and protective measures of COVID19.

Recently, A&N Administration issued an order vide bearing No. 919 dated 20-08-2020 from Deputy Commissioner (SA), Deputy Commissioner South Andaman, where it's mentioned that the movement of Pandits alone from home to temple and back is allowed by the Administration between 06.00 am to 09.00 am, immersion of idols and processions shall not be allowed.
