Port Blair, April 1: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands saw a remarkable display of unity and harmony as individuals from diverse religious backgrounds came together for the Grand Iftar Meet organized by the All India Kerala Muslim Cultural Center (AIKMCC) Andaman State Unit. Held at TSG Emerald View, Phoenix Bay, the event witnessed the presence of religious scholars representing Gyani Rajinder Singh from Police Gurudwara, Swami Shuddhananda Saraswati from Chinmaya Mission, Father Albinus Barla from Christian community and Moulana Kabeer from Muslim community, fostering interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding.

New Delhi, April 1: The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), which is the 3rd largest Hotel & Restaurant Association in the world has initiated legal action to seek appropriate remedies for hotel members affected by adverse provisions from the Delhi High Court for the hospitality sector from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade's (DGFT). These conditions have posed challenges for the industry, particularly in light of adverse economic circumstances exacerbated by events such as the global recession, terrorist attacks, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diglipur, April 1: Based on credible information received, a raiding team led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, PS Diglipur, conducted a raid in the Madhupur area. The team reached Madhupur near DB Gram road and concealed themselves. Shortly after, a suspicious individual was observed approaching from the main road. The raiding team swiftly intercepted him and conducted a search, resulting in the discovery of 130 grams of illicit ganja in the possession of Jagadish Ch. Das. Subsequently Jagadish Chandra Das, S/o Shri Jugal Chandra Das, 27 yrs, R/o Madhupur Ward No. 2 was arrested and a case have been registered at PS Diglipur under NDPS Act against the accused.

Rangat, April 1: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 31/03/2024, the Rangat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at Shyamkund forest, Bakultala. Acting promptly on a tip, SI Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Rangat formed a specialized team consisting of PCs K. Samir and Zebulon. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 180 liters of Lehan, along with 14 iron tins, various utensils, and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were discreetly hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Port Blair, April 1: In continuation with the intensive drive, the Police teams of South Andaman District Police are making all possible efforts to curb down the menace of illegal sale of illicit liquor, contraband drugs and violation of Model Code of Conduct in their concerned jurisdictions. During the period of 16th to 31st March, 2024, a total of 65 Excise cases were registered in different Police Stations of South Andaman District leading to the arrest of 65 persons. A total of 188.405 litres of IMFL, 228.98Kgs of Handia & 24 Ltrs of illicit liquor were seized. Additionally, cash amounting to Rs. 251,050 was seized for violation of the MCC. Further, regular jungle searches are being conducted and 115 liters of lehan were recovered and destroyed.
