Port Blair, Oct. 5: As part of the ongoing 69th Wildlife Week celebration, a programme on ‘Reef Scraper’ was organized today at Grub Island under Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor in the presence of the chief guest, Ms. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner-Cum-Secretary (Environment &Forests). The programme was organised to collect ghost nets & plastics wastes etc. from the sea bed/coral reefs by diving so as to facilitate growth of coral population and protect marine organisms. Approximately 250 Kg of plastic/obstacles had been removed by involvement of 20 divers attached to Forest Department, Reef Watch, NGOs and Local Divers. It is pertinent to mention that this programme was also organized at Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep in collaboration with Dive India for collection of ghost net and plastic wastes with the participation of 40 Scuba Divers.

Pot Blair, Oct. 5: Very often various agencies constructing infrastructure projects require digging / cutting of roads and excavating at public places. Such digging/ cutting and excavating at public places often damage the existing underground infra like Optical Fiber Cables, Water pipelines, Electric Cables, sewerage pipelines, etc. of other Utilities Asset Owners causing them huge economic losses, inconvenience to citizen and associated business losses to other stakeholders.

Port Blair, Oct. 5: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 4th Oct. 2023 conducted an awareness programme on Health & Hygiene for the girl students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Port Blair. The awareness programme was led by Smti Zubaida Begum as the Convener.

Port Blair, Oct. 5: On 04/10/2023, on the basis of a credible information, a joint team of PS Central Crime Station and Narcotics Cell of CID Unit under the leadership of Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO PS CCS and Inspr. S.Kannan, I/c Narcotics Cell in a significant breakthrough achieved the arrest of one person involved in illegal drug activities. The accused has been identified as Mohd. Shabib S/o Shri Mohd. Shamim (34) yrs R/o Chandini Chowk, Shadipur.

Port Blair, Oct. 5: The NSUI State President, A& N Islands Mr. M.A Sajid has wrote a letter to the Principal of JNRM and mentioned his concern on behalf of the students faced due to the closure of existing entry gate for the past several years, the college Students, faculty and staffs lead inconvenience and congestion while moving around from the campus.

Taking into consideration, the opening of JNRM College entry gate will enhance accessibility to the students and Teaching Staff to reach at new blocks of JNRM.
