Port Blair, Dec. 7: World Soil Day, 2023 was observed by Department of Agriculture in association with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in various Gram Panchayats of A & N Islands yesterday. The event in South Andaman was conducted at Shoal Bay and as part of ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ (VBSY), wherein a stall was setup by Agriculture Department for dissemination of information & activities undertaken by the Department which was organized by the Rural Development Department.      Soil Health Cards were distributed to the farmers.

Port Blair, Dec. 7: The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, GoI, Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration is organizing a five day Odissi dance Workshop from Dec. 4. About 30 Island artistes are attending the workshop. The valedictory function of the workshop will be held tomorrow (Dec.8) at 5.30 pm at Andaman Club. Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director (Art & Culture) will be the chief guest of the function.

Port Blair, Dec. 7: A four days comprehensive training on various modules of Public Financial Management System (PFMS) was inaugurated by Shri C. Arvind, Secretary (Finance), A&N Administration in the presence of Shri Anupam Raj, Dy. Controller of Accounts & Shri B.G.K Raju, Asst. Controller General of Accounts, O/o Control General of Accounts, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi in the Auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education today. The training will be imparted to around 400 Officials / Staff of Pay & Accounts Cadre and DDOs of Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The training will be imparted by the officials of ITD team of O/O CGA, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi.

Port Blair, Dec. 7: The Directorate of Social Welfare organized a visit to the State Library of Port Blair for children from two Child Care Institutions (CCIs) Darussalam Yathem Khana and Pranab Kanya Sangh. The event was not just an outing but a significant educational tour designed to broaden the horizons of the young minds from these CCls. The visit was aimed at fostering a love for reading and a curiosity for knowledge among the children, who were given the opportunity to explore the vast repository of books and resources available at the State Library.
