Port Blair, April 4: To reduce the power outages observed in Port Blair and South Andaman regions, a Task Force has been formed to inspect the feeders and Tie lines to assess the condition of conductors, cables, clamps, channels, transformers, earthing, and other related fixtures of the entire transmission and distribution lines of Port Blair and the South Andaman area. The Task Force has examined the fault-prone and vulnerable areas, between Bambooflat, Jungle Bari, Dundus Point, Viper Island, Minnie Bay, and Shoal Bay and Ferargunj.

Port Blair, April 3: As part of the citizen science initiatives launched on Car Nicobar Island to monitor sea turtle populations, the Nicobarese fishermen from Teetop Village have retrieved a juvenile Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) from ghost fishing nets floating in the coastal waters of Car Nicobar.
Lost, abandoned, and discarded fishing nets, popularly known as ghost nets, continue to entangle vulnerable marine fauna such as sea turtles. During their routine fishing practices on the forenoon of 01 April 2024, the fishermen spotted a large mass of ghost fishing net floating in the water, which entangled a live turtle as well as a dead turtle. In a swift act of responsible fishing practices, the fishermen rescued the juvenile sea turtle by cutting the net, and the turtle was swiftly released back into the sea without any external injuries.

PS Pahargaon has demonstrated unwavering dedication to ensuring the MCC is upheld in true letter and spirit. On April 2, the Excise team of PS Pahargaon conducted a series of raid at several locations under PS Pahargaon jurisdiction. These operations resulted in the registration of 4 Nos. Excise cases against accused persons Dilip Kumar Thapa, S/o Shri Chandra Bahadur Thapa, 40 yrs, R/o Brookshabad, Smti D. Bhavani, W/o Shri Anup Lakra, 31 yrs, R/o Dollygunj Shiv Colony, Thirupati Kannan, S/o Shri Rajendran, 28 yrs, Pvt. Worker, R/o Bathu Basti near Karpagam Hotel & Anil Kandulna, S/o Late B.S. Kandulna, 45 yrs, R/o Dollygunj near Shiv Mandir respectively resulting in seizure of 119 bottles of IMFL and 34 Kgs of illicit Handia.
