Port Blair, March 5: United States Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf (WMSL 750), a California-based National Security Cutter (NSC), is scheduled to arrive in Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Thursday, March 7, 2024.

This arrival will mark the first time a U.S. Coast Guard cutter has visited Port Blair.

Port Blair, March 5: Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India; Dr. A.A. Mao, Director, Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata and Member of Research, Advisory, & Monitoring Committee (RAMC), Botanical Survey of India, visited Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Regional Museum of ZSI on 28th February 2024 and proposed site for National Coral Reef Research Institute (NCRRI) at Beodnabad on 1st March 2024. 

Port Blair, Mar. 5: Taking serious note of indiscipline in cases reported among staff assigned election duty, the Returning Officer, ANIPC has directed to initiate stern action against any defaulters. Showcause has been issued to Poll Officers who did not appear for the first round of training.

Port Blair, Mar. 5: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, as the chief guest today inaugurated 8 additional classrooms for Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya (VKZPV) at Shore Point constructed by Zilla Parishad South Andaman under Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM). The Chief Secretary cut the ribbon and unveiled the plaque in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Up-Adhyaksh, Shri Boominathan, CEO, ZPSA, Ms. Smitha R, IAS, PRI members, Principal, staff & students of the school marking the inauguration of the asset.

Port Blair, Mar. 5: A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS to discuss Expenditure Monitoring and to deliberate upon matters concerning expenditure monitoring within the region in his chamber today. The meeting brought together key stakeholders and officials including Commissioner (Excise)/RO, State Police Nodal Officer, ED (IMFL), ANIIDCO, NO (Expenditure Monitoring), Manager (Lead Bank).
