Diglipur, Sept. 18: Acting swiftly on the complaint of hit and run blind case at Madhupur Road, Diglipur the Police team of Diglipur arrested one accused within 24 hours.

On 17/09/23 a complaint was received at PS Diglipur from one Shri Subrata Halder resident of Subashgram, Diglipur that on 17/09/23, at around 0815 pm one of his friend namely Ashim Das, who is a resident of Jalpaiguni, West Bengal were walking from the left side of the main road suddenly an auto rickshaw came in high speed from Laxmipur side and hit Ashim Das due to which he fell on the road and got hit on his head and the sustained head injury, falling unconscious. Due to the darkness on road and lack of street lights, the complainant could not see the Registration Number of auto rickshaw. As the auto driver fled away from the spot after the collision, during the treatment the victim succumbed to his injury.

Bambooflat, Sept 17: On September 15, 2023, WITH YOU, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, successfully organized an enlightening awareness program focused on women’s health and hygiene. The event took place at the prestigious Urvashi Hall, Bambooflat and was attended by a diverse audience keen on promoting the well-being of women.

Port Blair, Sept. 18: The Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, Andaman & Nicobar Administration held a meeting cum orientation programme with Heads of Departments of line departments, District, Block and GP level Officers/officials under the chairmanship of Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Secretary (RD/Panchayat) to discuss and deliberate on the UT Action Plan for the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. The programme was also attended by Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Diglipur, Sept. 17: Engineers from different sections and Departments have reiterated their commitment for the Development of the North Andaman District. In the Engineers’ Day District’s function organized at the Auditorium of new APWD Guest House at Diglipur, the Deputy Commissioner of the Middle & North Andaman District Shri Ankit yadav was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering of Engineers, turned up from different sectors including the Construction Division of APWD Diglipur, he said that Engineering is a resilient profession, where the Engineer has to find out the best possible solution for the problem. He needs to devise many algorithms to pick the best one in public interest, making the best use of the available resources. Shri Ankit Yadav said the District Administration will continue its role of the facilitator to the APWD to carry out the developmental works in the interest of the rural people of this rural region. Stressing upon the timely completion of the projects, he called upon the line departments to work in cohesion with good coordination in realizing the dreams of the common man.

Port Blair, Sept. 18: A meeting was held in the District Office under the chairmanship of Smti Veditha Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA) with officials of line departments regarding arrangements being made for the ensuing Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations. Officials from line departments comprising A&N Police, Port Management Board, Police Marine Force, APWD, Health Services, Electricity Department and Tourism attended the said meeting.
