Port Blair, Dec. 13: The Directorate of Social Welfare organized an Awareness-cum-Fitness Programme as part of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ at Jogger's Park on Dec.10. The fitness programme aims to create drug awareness and encourage a healthy lifestyle among the participants. The program was attended 60 beneficiaries including children from two Child Care Institutions and general public. The event was conducted by Shihan Shri M.S. Murgan.        

Port Blair, Dec. 12: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep which sailed from Chennai is expected to arrive at Haddo Wharf on Dec. 15 at 0600 hrs. She has on board, a total of 251 passengers & 4 Infants, 241 MT cargo and 20 containers.

Port Blair, Dec. 12: The Port Blair Municipal Council organised ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ programme at Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium, PBMC HQ here today. Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM,VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency as the chief guest inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional oil lamp. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chairperson, PBMC, Smt. S. Selvi, Councillors, Senior Officers of A&N Administration and various community representatives were present on the occasion. The Govt. of India launched the nationwide campaign ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ to raise awareness through outreach activities to achieve saturation of schemes and to ensure that benefits of flagship schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries in a time bound manner.

Port Blair, Dec. 13: A training programme on ‘Balanced ration and total mixed ration preparation for goats and pigs under Scheduled Tribe Component’ was organised by ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, in collaboration with the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, A&N Administration, at Harminder Bay village, Little Andaman from December 7 to 9, 2023.

Port Blair, Dec. 12: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to repair city roads on priority basis, which have sustained damages during Monsoon season.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament said that as the monsoon season concludes, Andaman & Nicobar Islands are now entering a dry spell that is expected to last approximately 4 to 5 months.
