Port Blair, Oct. 29: In order to encourage more residents to update their documents in Aadhaar, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had allowed the residents to update their documents in Aadhaar online through my Aadhaar portal free of cost upto 14th September, 2023. Now, after receiving positive response from the residents, UIDAI has decided to extend the facility of free document update in Aadhaar for another 3 months i.e. from 15th September, 2023 to 14th December, 2023.

Port Blair, Oct. 27: The Government of India has envisaged and launched a campaign ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ (MMMD) across the country as a finale programme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. In this regard, a State Level send off programme of Amrit Kalash Yatra under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign was organized in the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Middle Point today. Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency was the chief guest on the occasion. Shri Bhagat Singh, the esteemed Chairman of the A&N State Cooperative Bank and the father of Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands passed away today in Hyderabad, marking the end of an era for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Born on August 1, 1941, Shri Bhagat Singh was a luminary whose life was a testament to his dedication to social work and philanthropy. He was revered among islanders for his tireless commitment to bettering their lives.

Port Blair, Oct. 27: Yet another chess player from the A & N Islands attains the FIDE Arena title. A Chirag Kumar, a young chess player, has made the islanders proud by attaining the FIDE Arena title. He is the fourth player from the islands to achieve the FIDE Arena title.
