Port Blair, Dec. 10: A five-day training programme on ‘Organic Oyster Mushroom Cultivation Technology’ concluded at ICAR-KVK, Sippighat. A total of 34 participants attended the training from different areas of the Islands. This training programme focused on growing mushrooms in urban and peri urban to generate self-employment among islanders.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has deeply mourned the sad demise of Smt. M. Kamala, M/o BJP Karyakarta Shri Ganga Raj, R/o Junglighat, who left for heavenly abode today (09-12-2023) about 02.50 PM. Further Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to her bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member- BJP yesterday met Smti. Shobha Karandlaje, Hon'ble Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Affairs, Government of India, at New Delhi and made a specific request to remove "Arecanut (Supari)" from the framework of GST and to declare the same as State Crop in A&N Islands.

Jolly highlighted that Arecanut i.e. Supari is a major agricultural produce that 80% of the farmers in A&N Islands grow and sell. These farmers are totally dependent upon the growth and sale of the same and the Agricultural economy of our Islands is largely dependent upon the crop.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has raised the issue regarding the increasing traffic congestion and frequent jams along the Junglighat to Garacharma stretch. The issue has escalated to a critical point, significantly impacting the daily lives and commutes of residents, especially during peak hours and evenings.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that areas like Dairy Farm Junction and Lambaline are experiencing persistent traffic snarls during rush hours, causing disruptions in the smooth flow of vehicles.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: The ANTCC President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has addressed a letter to the Secretary (PBMC), concerning the deplorable state of roads between Vijay Baugh Street to Ganesh Temple in Ward No.9, Port Blair.

Halder highlighted the deteriorating conditions of these roads, emphasizing the severe impact on the daily lives of countless commuters and residents as the situation has escalated to a point where it poses not only inconvenience but a serious risk to public safety.
