Port Blair, March 8: On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of INAS 318 and International Women’s Day on 08 March, a maiden all-women maritime surveillance mission was undertaken by Andaman & Nicobar Command. The crew based at INS Utkrosh comprised Lt Cdr Shubhangi Swaroop, Lt Cdr Divya Sharma and Lt Vaishali Mishra.

The occasion highlighted the crucial role played by women combatants in all the walks of Naval Air Arm, which included pre-flight briefing, meteorological briefing medical check-up and ATC briefing, all of which were conducted by women officers. This milestone underscores the commitment of A & N Command towards providing equal opportunities to all genders and fostering gender neutrality within the Indian Armed Forces. The successful completion of the mission affirms the capability of women to undertake independent operational tasks and sends a powerful message of inclusivity and empowerment, highlighting the invaluable contributions of women towards our nation’s defence and security.

Little Andaman, Mar. 8: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra IAS, today visited Onge Settlement at Dungong Creek, Little Andaman and inaugurated the Medical Sub- Centre & 6 newly built houses for the Onge Tribes. He also distributed the LPG cylinders to the tribal beneficiaries under Ujjwala Scheme. The DGP, A&N Islands, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, the Secretary, Tribal Welfare, Shri Satyendra Singh Dursawat, IAS, the Director Tribal Welfare, Shri Harminder Singh, officials of Administration and Onge Chief, Shri Totoko alias Vicky and members of the Onge Tribes were present on the occasion. The houses for the Onge tribes have been built by the Andaman Public Works Department from the funds received from Ministry of Tribal Affairs under Conservation-cum-Development Plan and UT Administration under the scheme Welfare of Onge.

Port Blair, Mar. 8: In line with the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to encourage and provide right opportunities to the talent of women, artisans and craftsmen, Airports Authority of India in collaboration with Andaman Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihoods Mission (ANIRLM) has allotted commercial space at the airport to Self Help Groups (SHGs) to sell/display their products under AVSAR initiative (Airport as Venue for Skilled Artisans of the Region).

Port Blair, March 8: Based on complaints received from various complainants, a total of four cases were registered at Police Station Aberdeen against one Satyaki Maiti, S/o Sajal Maiti (29(, Owner of Scintillating Andamans, R/o Dairy Farm near Shiv Mandir for cheating in the year 2023 and 2024.

The accused had claimed himself as a travel agent in the name and style of Scintillating Andaman by luring tourists, he uploaded fake tour details on his website and circulated them via Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms. He took advance price quotes from tourists who were willing to visit Andaman by giving fake price quotes to the tourists, which tends to be the lowest rate compared in the market and promised them satisfactory services at Andaman. But after reaching Andaman, the tourists faced issues relating to booking of rooms (accommodation) and transport (ferry and cab services) etc. during their stay at Andaman.
