Port Blair, Dec. 26: The Department of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration will be organizing the prestigious 67th SGFI National School Games Football for Boys U-17 at Netaji Stadium, Port Blair from 27th December 2023 to 05th January 2024. The opening ceremony and inaugural match will be held at Netaji Stadium, Port Blair tomorrow (Dec. 27) at 2.30 pm. Smti. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Education), A&N Administration will grace the occasion as chief guest. For the first time, a total number of 34 State/UT teams are participating in this mega event.

Port Blair, Dec. 26: Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, Shri A. Narayanaswamy today visited CRC, Brookshabad and inaugurated an awareness programme on Empowerment of families-persons with disabilities & distribution of Aids & Appliances for Divyangjans by lighting the lamp in the presence of the Director, Social Welfare, Shri Nitin Shakya, Director, CRC, Smt. Sumithamol. S, officials of the Social Welfare Dept. and parents of the Divyangjans.

Port Blair, Dec. 26: CPI (M) Port Blair Area Committee has conducted door-to-door campaign and corner meetings at Haddo Ward No. 1, Buniyadabad and Prem Nagar on 24th, 25th and 26th December, 2023 highlighting various burning issues of the people like (i) frequent power cut, (ii) sky-rocketing price rise (iii) growing unemployment, (iv) corruption, (v) non-availability of stone chips, metals, etc. 

Port Blair, Dec. 26: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma participated in Christmas celebrations at Shadipur and Shoal Bay 08 or 25 December 2023 and celebrated Christmas with the public.

At 11.00 AM, the Member of Parliament visited a Church at Shoal Bay 08, where a large number of devotees and members of the Church welcomed him.

Kamorta, Dec. 26: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services conducted a Veterinary Health Camp/Awareness Programme at Tapong Village of Champin Island. The main objective of the camp was to educate Tribal farmers to rear pigs in enclosed areas, as open rearing may spoil vegetations as it may also create unhygienic conditions. The programme was also aimed to provide medical care for animals in Tapong Village and distribute essential medicine to address common veterinary issues and also to educate the community on animal health and preventive measures. During the camp, a thorough health –examination for animals brought to the camp, immediate treatment was provided for the sick animals and addressing issues such as infections, injuries and common ailments.
