Port Blair, Feb 7: In the anticipation of the impending stress on children in this competitive world, Pankh (NGO) has announced the launch of specialized councelling aimed at providing comprehensive support to students and for the parents. With the mission to alleviate stress and enhance academic preparedness, this programme comes as a timely initiative to bolster students' confidence and mental well-being during this critical period. The NGO will also take individual sessions for students appearing for board exams and for the parents as well. In fostering a culture of empathy and solidarity, the organization embarks on a journey to redefine success not merely in terms of academic achievements but also in terms of holistic well-being and personal growth.

Kalighat Feb 7: A team of PS Kalighat apprehended two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of illicit liquor. In addition, the team confiscated a significant quantity of Lehan in the dense forest of Haren Nallah, under the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat.

On 06.02.2024, in response to information regarding the production of illicit liquor, a team led by SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, along with PCs Sushil Sarkar, Subrata Biswas, and Eileen, started a challenging journey of 60 km through sea, land, and unfavorable terrain to reach the Haren Nallah forest. The team conducted a raid in the dense jungle of Haren Nallah and successfully seized a significant quantity of 520 liters of Lahan, which was stored in iron and plastic drums. They also discovered various utensils and Bhatti articles used for the preparation of illicit liquor, cleverly hidden within the depths of the jungle. All confiscated items were promptly destroyed.

Port Blair, Feb 7: In view of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, the Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS, today held a meeting with Officers of Department of Telecommunication, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and SOVTECH for advance preparation of Webcasting in Critical Polling Station and also discussed on smooth functioning of Election Toll Free No.1950.

As per the Election Commission of India’s instructions arrangements for webcasting shall be done in all Critical Polling Stations and Polling Stations in vulnerable areas to provide immediate support, for ensuring free and fair election and as a confidence building measures to voters.

Mayabunder, Feb 7: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of N&M Andaman on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) today, marking a significant stride towards bolstering the fisheries sector. The session focused primarily on the selection of 83 beneficiaries for various subsidy programs, including construction of fish ponds, freshwater finfish hatcheries, new grow-out ponds, Ice plant and cold storage, two-wheelers with icebox, three wheelers with ice box, refrigerated vehicles and insulated vehicles.
