Port Blair, Feb 15: Honouring Excellence in Education, the Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma visited St. Xavier Senior Secondary School in Mannarghat and extended heartfelt congratulations to students and teachers for their outstanding achievement of a remarkable 100% pass rate in both Class 10th and 12th during the last academic session. During the programme he handed over a Letter of Appreciation to the school management for this achievement.

The Member of Parliament also visited Vitala Public School in Hope Town and felicitated Vitala Public School in Hope Town for their exceptional accomplishment of achieving a 100% pass rate in both Class 10th and 12th during the previous academic session. He extended his congratulations to the dedicated students and hardworking teachers for this remarkable achievement. The Member of Parliament handed over a Letter of Appreciation to Vitala Public School management.

Port Blair, Feb 15: INS Jarawa celebrated its Diamond Jubilee (60th Anniversary) on 15 Feb 2024 at Jarawa High Ground. R Adm Sandeep S Sandhu, NM, Chief of Staff (COS), HQ ANC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the event.

INS Jarawa was commissioned by the then Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral B S Soman on 15 Feb 1964 as a base to oversee all Naval Operations on the A&N Islands. INS Jarawa, upon commissioning established itself as a premier Naval establishment at Port Blair. The base is named after the indigenous adivasi Jarawa tribe of the Andaman Islands.

Port Blair, Feb 15: Keeping its commitment of zero tolerance against drugs, on the basis of specific intelligence input regarding transportation of contraband through courier service, on 13/02/2024 a team of PS Central Crime Station comprising of Inspr. Vishal Ram, SHO PS CCS, SI Parvash, Head Constable Sanjit Madhu, Sanjay Kujur and K. Venkateshwar Rao, Constable K. Rajendran & Chandran under the supervision of Dy.SP (CID) conducted a raid at Gurudwara Line and arrested one person namely Malser Paul S/o Shri. Radha Krishna (33) yrs, Pvt. Worker R/o Lillipur, Haddo with possession of parcel approximately 02 Kgs of Ganja which was transported from mainland through private courier services.

Port Blair, Feb 15: Continuing its endeavour towards drug free society, the Police Stations under South Andaman District viz. PS Aberdeen and PS Pahargaon arrested two persons for possessing Methamphetamine and smoking illicit ganja.

On 10th Feb 2024, acting on credible information, the PS Pahargaon team swiftly reached Attampahar area. They discovered a car wherein someone was smoking a substance resembling ganja near a scrap yard. K. Mohit Swaroop, 27 years old, was found with a folded paper containing ganja. Subsequent testing confirmed the substance to be ganja. Mohit was promptly arrested and 06 grams of ganja were seized from him.
