Port Blair, Aug. 4: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands have recorded as many as 13 deaths due to COVID-19 pandemic. Two deaths were recorded today in which an eight year old boy suffering from diabetes succumbed to COVID-19 after he was admitted in the GB Pant Hospital. The child was waiting to be airlifted to Chennai for specialized treatment but could not make it due to lack of proper treatment at Andaman’s only referral hospital, GB Pant.

Meanwhile a 28 year old boy succumbed had breathing difficulties after he was admitted at RP Hospital, Mayabunder, North & Middle Andaman District. The youth hails from Kishorinagar Village. With this the North & Middle Andaman has recorded its second death due to COVID-19.

The total deaths in Andaman since 27th July 2020 has been recorded as 13. There is shortage of beds for COVID-19 patients. The situation has gone so worse that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has opted for home isolation of people testing positive. Areas are being sealed and declared as Containment Zones. The present situation in Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a clear indication of the disaster that lies ahead.
