Port Blair, Aug 13: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration in its endeavor in fight against the pandemic has initiated the strengthening of the existing strength of manpower for healthcare. This step has been bolstered with the support of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India under the Emergency COVID-19 Response Package (ECRP) which allows for temporarily hiring of specialized human resource for COVID-19 management in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Till date 18 Doctors, 2 Nurse Supervisors, 50 Staff Nurses, 20 ANMs, 17 Lab Technicians, 27 Ward Attendants, 30 AYAHs, 10 Drivers along with 114 House-Keeping Staff & 2 Multi Tasking Staff have been added to the teams presently working towards COVID-19 management. A few more are slated to report shortly. These frontline COVID-19 warriors shall be covered under the “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana” for insurance package.

The Andaman & Nicobar Administration is leaving no stone unturned to provide better health services to the citizens of the isles and appeals to other healthcare providers to come forward to serve the islands in these testing times, said a release from the A&N Administration.
