Port Blair, Aug 27: The Port Blair Municipal Council maintains continuous efforts to restrict the spread of COVID-19. Dedicated team deployed by PBMC to keep the city clean and sanitize the entire city. Domestic Wastes and Bio Wastes are collected in regular intervals.

Today wastes were collected by the dedicated staffs with protective gear from Horn Bill Nest, Haddo Circuit House and South Point Circuit House and transported to incinerator of G.B. Pant Hospital for final disposal. PBMC provided a number of dustbins of both 660 liters and of 60 liters capacity to G.B. Pant Hospital to augment the capacity of the hospital to collect its waste securely for safe disposal of waste at the incinerator.

The Municipal jurisdictions are regularly sanitized by its dedicated team with proper protective gears as per the specified norms/guidelines to keep the environment safe for the people of the city. Thursday the areas sanitized are Containment Zone of Atlanta Point, Ward No. 05 and Thirupati Temple area at Dairy Farm Containment Zone, Ward No. 14.

Dead Bodies are cremated at cremation ground with proper care following the guidelines. Sanitized vehicles are used to transport these bodies to cremation ground.

Besides sanitation PBMC has initiated other works during this Unlock down period. Over 5 Tons of shredded plastic has been supplied from its Waste segregation center for construction of road at Hutbay.

PBMC appeals to the citizens of Port Blair City to follow the guidelines issued by the A&N Administration in true spirit to be safe from the spread of pandemic.
