Port Blair, Aug 31: In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amongst tribes, the number of convoys on the Andaman Trunk Road passing through Jarawa Tribal Reserve is restricted in the following manner.

Only two convoys per day as per the following schedule shall be allowed:

First Convoy:

Jirkatang to Middle Strait: 1000 Hrs

Middle Stratit to Jirkatant: 0930 Hrs.

Second Convoy:

Jirkatang to Middle Strait: 1400 Hrs

Middle Stratit to Jirkatant: 1430 Hrs.

A maximum of 40 vehicles will be allowed in each convoy.

All persons availing the convoy from Port Blair to North & Middle Andaman District shall undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at PHC Ferrargunj as per the following rates:

General Public: Rs. 500 per head.

Driver & one attendant of cargo vehicle: Rs. 300 per head.

Medical patient along with an attendant: Nil

Government Servant on official duty: Nil

The persons availing convoy must ensure to wear mask, wash/ sanitize hands, maintain social distancing, follow the convoy, keep the windows of vehicle closed, not to give eatables to tribal, not to stop vehicle in Jarawa area and not to allow Jarawa to enter into vehicle while passing through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve.

This order shall come into effect from 1st Sept. 2020 and will be applicable till further orders, a communication from the Secretary Tribal Welfare said here today.
