Port Blair, Sept. 1: With the Unlock Phase 4 coming into effect, the State Transport Authority has issued the following guidelines for public transport services w.e.f. 01.09.2020. Accordingly the following public transport has been allowed with pre-conditions:

  1. Ordinary Stage carriage buses of STS with the following conditions:
  2. Not more than one passenger in a 2- seater seat and not more than two passengers in a 3- seater seat shall be permitted for maintaining social distancing.
  3. Frequent sanitization of the Terminals and all points in the buses which come into human contact.
  4. Wearing of face cover by the crews as well as passengers is compulsory while travelling in buses.
  5. Passenger Autorickshaws with the following conditions:
  6. Not more than one passenger is permitted for maintaining social distancing.
  7. Frequent sanitization of the Autorickshaw.
  8. Wearing of face cover by the driver as well as passenger is compulsory while travelling.
  9. Jeeps and Taxis with the following conditions:
  10. Not more than four passengers in Jeep and two passengers in Taxi are permitted for ensuring social distancing.
  11. Frequent sanitization of the Jeep/ Taxi.
  12. Wearing of face cover by the driver as well as passengers is compulsory while travelling.
  13. ATR Express services with the following conditions:
  14. Not more than one passenger in a 2- seater seat and not more than two passengers in a 3- seater seat shall be permitted for maintaining social distancing.
  15. Passengers tested negative shall be allowed to travel further to their destination by paying the appropriate ticket fare.
  16. Passengers tested positive shall have to pay the bus fare upto Ferrargunj and their return journey shall be as per the directives of District Administration.
  17. Frequent sanitization of the Terminals and all points in the buses which come into human contact.
  18. Wearing of face cover by the crews as well as passengers is compulsory while travelling in buses.

Any persons violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC, and other legal provisions as applicable.

Strict penal action will be taken against the vehicle/ permit owners for violation of any of the conditions without any leniency which may lead to cancellation of permits.
