Port Blair, Sept. 25: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in his letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary and the General Manager, National Highways & Infrastructural Developmental Cooperation Limited, Port Blair has highlighted the plight of the National Highway NH-4 connecting South Andaman to North and Middle Andaman District.

Bairagi mentioned that NH-4 from Baratang, Kadamtala to Diglipur is in deplorable state and the members of the general public are facing a lot of issues. He further added that NH-4 is the lifeline for the people of North & Middle Andaman District and currently the condition of the Highway is such that two wheelers, LMV and Three Wheelers cannot ply on the roads.

The Party President also explained that he has been receiving numerous requests to take the issue up at appropriate forum from both the PRI’s and the General Public. The condition of the road in many places is such that there is no trace of any road and only mud and water can be seen.

Bairagi has thus requested the authorities to intervene on the issue and for the time being the repair/resurface work can be done, to provide immediate relief until the National Highway works are completed in all aspects.
