Port Blair, Sept. 30: The State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has written a letter to the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands with copies to the Secretary, Shipping, Director, Shipping Services and to the Deputy Commissioner of all the three Districts requesting them to make arrangements for the stranded people from Inter-Islands at Port Blair or to make necessary arrangements for them to travel to their respective places of residence.
Bairagi mentioned that more than 400 stranded Islanders from Little Andaman are stuck in Port Blair and it has also come to his notice that a large number of COVID-19 positive cases have been found in Little Andaman. He further added that the condition of the stranded Islanders from Little Andaman is turning from bad to worse both economically and socially they are finding it hard to sustain themselves.
The BJP Prez requested the authorities to either make arrangements for the stranded Islanders of Little Andaman to reach their villages after proper COVID-19 tests or to make arrangements for them with food and shelter at Port Blair.
The condition of stranded Islanders from other Islands and Districts are the same, he said requesting the authorities to immediately deploy speed boats to send the stranded Islanders back home. Bairagi especially mentioned the Nicobar District in his letter as the people from the Nicobar District are the worst sufferers.
