Port Blair, Oct. 1: The 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation will be celebrated on 02nd October 2020 all over the Nation. On this special occasion, Gandhi Jayanti will be celebrated at Port Blair, as per the programme given below:-

0818 Hrs: Departure of Hon’ble Lt. Governor from Raj Niwas

0819 Hrs: Arrival of Hon’ble Lt. Governor at Gandhi Park

0820 Hrs to 0826 Hrs: Offering of floral tributes at Gandhi Park accompanied by “Vaishnav Jan to tene kahiye je”/Ramdhuns by Teachers of Education Department

0826 Hrs to 0828 Hrs: Observance of two minutes silence

0828 Hrs to 0829 Hrs: National Anthem

0829 Hrs: Departure of Hon’ble Lt. Governor.

All the Govt. Departments, Institutions, Autonomous bodies, Corporation, Panchayat Pradhans, Voluntary organizations and villagers have been requested to create community assets by Shramdaan and conduct special drive for cleanliness in the month under the Swacchta Hi Seva Campaign. 

The General Public is also requested to refrain from slaughtering of animals, killing of birds, fish catching and consuming liquor on this auspicious day.

The 2nd October, 2020 will be observed as a “Dry Day” in homage to the Father of the Nation.
