Member of Parliament Requests CS to Make Arrangements for Immediate Sailings

Port Blair, Oct. 6: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to make urgent arrangements of sailing of boats to Swaraj Dweep and Hut Bay and vice versa for transpiration of people including students stranded at Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep and Hut Bay. Due to non- availability of transportation facilities from Port Blair to respective places and vice versa, many people have been stranded. 

The MP informed that as per the data collected, altogether 112 persons of Swaraj Dweep Island (i.e. 22 college students, 30 medical treatment cases and 60 general public and government servants) are in Port Blair waiting to proceed to Swaraj Dweep.  Similarly, 237 persons from Swaraj Dweep (i.e. 34 students, 18 medical referred cases, 30 persons for medical treatment purpose, 65 persons of govt. servant servants, 50 persons of general public and 40 persons of general public and students who are to avail flights from Port Blair to mainland in between 7th - 9th October 2020) intend to travel Port Blair for various purposes. 

Apart from the persons belonging to Swaraj Dweep, there are a large number of students and general public belonging to Hut Bay, Little Andaman who are stranded in Port Blair due to transportation problems. 

The MP requested the Chief Secretary to issue necessary directions to the Shipping department to make immediate arrangements of sailing of boats from Port Blair to Swaraj Dweep and from Port Blair to Hut Bay and vice versa to facilitate the stranded passengers.
