Port Blair, Oct. 23: Striking hard on the proliferation of drugs in the Islands, PS Central Crime Station today seized its largest quantity of contraband this year and arrested a drug kingpin in the process.

Information was received by Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS Central Crime Station that one Kingpin/renowned drug peddler Mohammed Sultan R/o Garacharama has concealed a huge quantity of contraband Ganja in his house, the same was conveyed to Senior Officers and on the direction of Shri Jagdev Singh Yadav DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID), a raiding team comprising Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO PS CCS, Head Constable Upendar Singh, Shibani Biswas, Constable Chandran, P. K. Mondal and Hari Krishna Yadav of PS CCS was sent to Garacharma for carrying out the raid in a highly professional and well-coordinated manner. The raiding team encircled the house of Mohammed Sultan from all sides and carried out house search after observing all codal formalities. The raid was headed by Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) and was done under the close supervision of Sh. Anant Mittal, IPS, SP(CID).

The team recovered one white colour sack containing more than 13 (Thirteen) Kgs of ganja which he had clandestinely hidden beneath the plywood of his bed. The accused Mohammed Sultan S/o Late Abdul Kadar (48) yrs R/o Garacharama near Kali Mandir was arrested on the spot and was produced before court later. He is a known drug kingpin and is involved in 10 previous cases of Narcotic Drugs as well. The above recovery was made on account of technical surveillance, outstanding and continuous efforts of the staff of PS CCS.  PS CCS has in the last 25 days arrested 17 drug smugglers in 08 Cases and has recovered more than 30.300 kgs of contraband in the process worth many crores.

The CID & CCS unit of Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from anti-social activity and is keeping a strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in the Islands.
