A&N Police Conducts Farewell Parade in Honour of Outgoing DGP

Port Blair, Dec. 20: In the honour of Shri.Dependra Pathak, lPS, the outgoing Director General of Police, an impeccable farewell parade, was held at Police Lines, Port Blair on 19th December 2020 at 0830 hrs. 05 platoons including Executive Police (Male), Executive Police (Female), Fire Service&lRBn, and Police Brass Band participated in the parade, which was commanded by ShriKalaivanan R. IPS, SDPOBambooflat. All Senior officers, rank and file were present in the Farewell Parade. During the function, the Covid -19 Protocols were strictly adhered to.

In his address, Shri.DependraPathak, IPS, extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of A&N Islands, all members of A&N Police and acknowledged their hard work and relentless endeavor in maintaining Law & Order, crime preventionand budded their efforts in providing safe and secure environment to the Islanders. He applauded the humane and compassionate role played by police during COVID crisis in reaching out to people in distress.He emphasized the fundamental role of Police in having “Surakshit”, “Vikshit” & “Gauravshali” India through upholding rule of law which is pivotal to have development and progress.

While addressing the gathering, ShriPathak, lPS, spoke about the several steps taken by A&N Police for improving the quality of policing and delivery of public services to the citizens of A&N islands during his tenure. Under his guidance, A& N Police achieved many milestones. It won Best Police station Awards consecutively for three years (Campbell Bay in 2018, Aberdeen in 2019 and Kalighat in 2020). During his tenure, several important initiatives like Tourist Police Eco-system, Parakram and Satark were launched which have been widely appreciated. Various other schemes like Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112, Cyber Crime Prevention against Women & children (CCPWC), Andaman & Nicobar Police Study Circle and Community Policing Schemes such as Fisherman Watch Group,Yuva Scheme, Student Police Cadet, Police Mitra, Mahila Police Volunteers were initiated which have been a great success. Major Flagship proposals for bringing self sufficiency in A & N Police like creation of new posts, merger of Armed Police & Special Armed, Raising of 2ndIRBn in A&N Police are under consideration with the Ministry of Home Affairs. During his tenure, various steps were taken towards the welfare of police personnel like timely grant of MACP, Police Family Welfare Centre, filling up of vacant posts etc.,ShriPathak, IPS thanked each and every one for helping A&N Police for their contributions in there accomplishment and appealed them to continue to discharge their duties with dedication and sincerity in future to take the A&N Police to new glorious heights.

At 1400 Hrs at GO’s Mess ShriDependraPathak, IPS, inaugurated e- compendium of all Circulars,Advisories, Guidelines,Standard Operating Procedures issued from time to time since 1970sto streamline the official work of various units of A&N Police. All Circulars/SOPs have now been digitalized and with the help of key word search any important Circular/Ordercan be accessed with the click of amouse. This e-compendium will help in retrieving all such important instructions is real time.
