Port Blair, Dec. 21: Shri. Satyendra K Garg, IPS has taken over the charge of Director General of Police, A&N Islands in the forenoon of 21st December, 2020. A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented at Police Headquarters, Atlanta Point, Port Blair to welcome him.
Shri. Satyendra K Garg, IPS, 1987 batch of AGMUT Cadre is M.A. in History and has bachelors degree in Law. During his illustrious career of more than 3 decades, he has served in various significant positions in Delhi, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
Sh. Garg is a highly decorated officer who has been awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Internal Security Medal and Special Duty Medal. In addition, he has been conferred with the Governor’s Gold Medal for Meritorious Service by the State of Arunachal Pradesh.
As Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi Police (2010-2013), he ensured world class traffic arrangements for Commonwealth Games 2010. His seminal work on reduction of road fatality, drunken driving and other initiatives became example for traffic police in other cities of India. In his last assignment as Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, he was handling the important North-East Division.
