Impressive Ceremonial Parde Held at Police Line to Welcome the New DG Police
Port Blair, Dec. 22: An impressive ceremonial parade was held to welcome the new Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Satyendra Garg, IPS at Police Line Port Blair on 22/12/2020 at 0830 hrs. Sh. Garg took charge of DGP, A&N Police on 21st December, 2020. 05 platoons including Executive Police (Male), Executive Police (Female), Fire Service, IRBn and Police Brass Band participated in the parade, which was commanded by Shri. Kaliavanan R. IPS, SDPO Bambooflat. All senior officers, rank and file were present in the Welcome Parade. During the function, the COVID-19 protocols were strictly adhered to.
After inspection of Parade, Sh. Garg in his address lauded the spectacular march past by the Police contingents and emphasized that ‘Seva’, ‘Suraksha’ and ‘Satyanishta’ (Service, Security and Integrity) are fundamental guiding principles of Police functioning to build ‘Surakshit’, ‘Viksit’ and ‘Gauravshali’ society. While acknowledging the geo-strategic significance of A&N Islands and its unique set of challenges, he underlined significance of people’s cooperation and public partnership in policing through community based policing. The complainants, who are in distress, should be patiently listened to with sensitively and empathy to address their concerns. Police should be polite but firm in their conduct. He commended the professionalism, hard work and dedication of A&N Police during COVID-19 pandemic and day to day policing. He made a specific mention of Police Stations getting the award of Best Police Station in the country for 3 consecutive years which is testimony of the excellence of the Police force. He stressed upon the continuous improvement and advancement through skill upgradation, use of technology on sustained and continuous basis to improve quality of delivery of public service. Use of modern and scientific aid to investigation, safety and security of tourist, coastal security, menace of drug abuse, crime against women and children, capacity building to deal with emergent crime such as cyber-crime, online financial fraud are some of the priority areas for further improvement.
He appealed to the A&N Police to work hard and with dedication in order to bring a sense of security to every person residing in these Islands. At the end of the ceremony, he interacted with the Police personnel and appreciated the efforts put at the grass root level.
