Port Blair, Dec. 27: The Two-day long training for Vaccine Cold Chain Handlers (CCH’s) from all the cold chain points in South Andaman District (18) for routine immunization (RI) as well as for COVID-19 vaccination (Co-WIN) was held at SR CASTLE, Dollygunj on Dec 20th & 21st. The training was meant to train CCH’s to record data in electronic vaccine intelligence network (eVIN) app, designed by MoHFW along with UNDP and GAVI. The training was inaugurated by Dr. Omkar Singh (DHS) and in total 32 participants attended this programme for two days.

Similar training was held at Sea N Sand Hotel, Mayabunder on Dec 23rd & 24th. This training was meant to train CCH’s to record data in electronic vaccine intelligence network app, designed by MoHFW along with UNDP and GAVI. The training was inaugurated by Dr. P.K. Palit (M.O I/c, Dr R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder) and in total 22 participants were attended this programme for two days.

The training included the details of Universal Immunization programme (UIP), implementation of eVIN mobile app and maintaining standardized registers at health facility level.

The eVIN was launched live for South Andaman as well as N&M Andaman Districts on the same day and with this achievement eVIN has been successfully scaled up in entire country. The training was imparted by Mr. Harikrishnam, National Project Officer (NPO-IT), from UNDP Country office (New Delhi), Dr. Avijit Roy, State Immunization Officer / NO COVID19, Dr. Tapash kumar Dakuya, State Epidemiologist, and Dr.Rohit, Senior Project Officer(SPO), UNDP for A&N Islands. The Vaccine cold chain manager for Car Nicobar district Mr. R.P. Veera Kumar and for North & Middle Andaman Ms. Priya were also present at the event.

This will help in effective online vaccine management and data capturing. This system will also be utilized for the upcoming CoWIN vaccination in these islands.
