Port Blair, Dec. 29:  In order to curb illegal sale of narcotics drugs in these Islands, South Andaman District Police has shown diligent efforts to send drug peddlers behind the bars. The team of Police Station Aberdeen has seized 678 grams of ‘Methamphetamine’, an illicit drug and arrested the accused. 

On 26/12/2020, credible information was received from an informer that a person namely Dayal Biswas is looking for a prospective customer to sell Methamphetamine at Chakkargaon area. Immediately, a raiding team led by Insp. Rahul, SHO PS Aberdeen, SI Deepak Kumar Xaxa, HCs V. Hentho, Sunil Singh Yadav, PCs S.N Pathak, Sonu Yadav, Sandeep Lakra and D. Shiv Kumar was formed and secretly rushed to the spot at Chakkargaon area. With its alert and prompt response, the team succeeded in apprehending the suspected person and seized illicit drugs ‘Methamphetamine’ weighing 678 grams from the possession of the accused namely Dayal Biswas S/o Shri. Fatick Biswas (58 yrs) R/o New Wandoor. The international market value of the drug is around Rs. 67 lakh.

The entire raid took place under the supervision of Shri Narra Chaitanya, IPS, SDPO South Andaman and under the overall direction and supervision of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
