As the country celebrates the 72nd Republic Day with zeal, fervor and joy, I extends my best wishes to everyone on this occasion which marks the coming into force of the Constitution of India. Our Constitution is the binding force which is the foundation of the diversity of our country and provides its citizens with fundamental rights and duties.

It marks the day when India got truly independent and attained the historic Purna Swaraj. We became a sovereign, secular, socialist, democratic republic country on 26 January 1950, almost three years post-independence.

Republic Day reminds us of our struggle which was based on high principles and ideas, such as – non-violence, cooperation, non-discrimination and is celebrated by all the Indians with great zeal and grandeur. It also reminds us of the sacred values enshrined in the Constitution of India, it is a day of national pride. Display of the grand military on the Republic Day parade reminds us that the security of our territorial sovereignty is the outcome of many sacrifices.

On this landmark day, let us pledge to work towards fulfilling the sacred principles that have been enshrined in our constitution and continue to strive for achieving the vision of the Members of the Constituent Assembly.
