Port Blair, Feb 26: Four youths of the islands were today felicitated for their act of honesty, which proved the true spirit of mini India where humanity matters more than anything. The youths were felicitated by Shri Radheed, Social Worker who presented a certificate of appreciation and a memento.

Earlier this week the four youths namely M. Mohammed Zaheen, S/o M. Abdul Gafoor, R/o Nayapuram, Mohammed Ali, S/o Ubaid, R/o Nayapuram, A Shabaz Ahmed, S/o A. Abdul Aziz, R/o Bambooflat and M.K. Nishar, S/o M.K. Kamal, R/o Bambooflat had found a gold bracelet while on their way to Bambooflat in MV Mus (Vehicle Ferry). Without thinking twice the four decided to hand it over to the Police Station at Bambooflat. The message of finding a gold bracelet was later circulated over social media by volunteers.

On 24th Feb 2021, the claimant of the lost bracelet had approached PS Bambooflat after the news reached them. The claimant who serves as a maid and her daughter had expressed their sincere gratitude to the four youths and the Police Station, as they could not believe that the fortune that was misplaced would ever be returned. The claimants also thanked the DG Police for heading a sincere Police Department which works for the people of the islands.

The news of lost & found and the sincerity of the four youths had spread like fire in social media. Many were moved and many showered their blessings and appreciation for the youths. Taking a lead, Shri Rasheed, a social worker who has been contributing a lot for the society had decided to honour and felicitate the youths, with an intention that the act may inspire many more to help retain the peace, tranquillity and sincerity which has been the trademark of the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
