Port Blair, April 13: As a part of the ongoing Tika Utsav A&N Islands, the people have shown their full potential for vaccination drive with Jan Bhagidari.  About 6780 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 36 sessions and by about 85 teams.

Special ship been sent to Chawra Island by A&N Administration with a medical team under the leadership of Dr Solomon, M.O CHC Nancowry. The team reached the island in the afternoon and vaccination started for the people above 45 years of age.

As per the policy of the GoI Vaccination at Work place special teams were constituted to vaccinate beneficiaries in Nirman Bhawan, CE APWD office and at the VSI Airport Port Blair. A total of 122 people were vaccinated in both the places.

In the meanwhile MoHFW, GoI has released 30,000 additional doses which will be reaching Port Blair on 14.04.2021 which will help the administration in intensifying the vaccination drive further.

Beneficiaries who wish to take vaccine are requested to reach the nearest centres to get them vaccinated. All are requested to follow COVID appropriate Behavior by maintaining safe social distance “Do gaj ki doori”, wash hand and mouth intermittently with soap and water ensuring 60 seconds of contact of soap with skin and wearing appropriately masks in crowded places.

A & N Administration is committed to control the pandemic with the help general public and adopting the approach of tracking testing and treating ILI / COVID19 cases. In addition to the vaccination all should adopt the COVID Appropriate Behavior “Dawai bhi aur kadhai bhi”.

People are also informed that the COVISHIELD is safe and been given to more than 46000 beneficiaries as on date in these islands without any complications. Only those who are pregnant and lactating mother may refrain from taking the vaccine. Any person having any sickness may also take the vaccines on priority. People who are allergic to certain drugs may consult doctor before taking the vaccine.
