Order Comes With Clarity and Relief for Businesses Which are Allowed to Operate

Port Blair, May 3: The District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS had partially modified the earlier Order No. 606, wherein businesses apart from those permitted to operate were asked to close down. There remained a confusion in the minds of people regarding timings, in-situ works, operation of godowns etc. which the District Magistrate has cleared today.

Accordingly, in partial modification to this Office Order No.606 dt. 30th April 2021, the following is hereby ordered with immediate effect in South Andaman District.

Godowns and allied establishments which are permitted as per said Order can operate beyond 01:00 PM till 06:00 PM for non-business purposes and should not cater to any customers. Only internal operations, receiving/dispatching of stocks etc. shall be permitted. Establishments violating this provision shall be liable for fine of Rs.25,000/-. 

All clinical establishments, medicals, chemists/pharmacies including veterinary clinics shall be permitted to operate beyond 1:00 PM.

LPG/POL operations/distributions shall be permitted upto 6:00 PM.

Port services will continue to operate as usual and both essential and non-essential cargo can be moved in and out of port, as per requirement for loading/unloading/clearing of cargo and the same shall be permitted till 6:00 PM only.

Restaurants/hotels can continue operations beyond 1:00 PM only for home delivery/parcel and room service till 8:00 PM, if inmates are staying.

Persons involved in distribution of milk shall be permitted till 6:00 PM.

For construction sites, where labourers are within the premises, construction activities can go on and while materials from port can be received upto 6:00 PM, no labour movement shall be allowed.

Officials on essential duties are permitted to travel on production of valid identity cards to be issued by the concerned HoDs.

The establishments listed above shall strictly follow norms of social distancing by maintaining a distance of atleast 1 (one) meter from a person and not allowing more than 5 persons at a time inside the premises.
