Port Blair, Oct. 14: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP, Former State President BJP, A&N Islands & Member Home Ministry Advisory Committee demanded the Administration to increase the frequency of flights operating in Andaman & Nicobar islands by mentioning the order of Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) Order No. 27/2021 dated 12th October, by allowing domestic flights to fly with 100% capacity from 18th October 2021.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Mr Jolly said the the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an existential crisis for the tourism industry since the lockdown of last year March 2020. Apparently, tourism in Andamans started to pick up after the first wave and there were several plans to enhance the sector, alas the second wave shattered the dream & brought a complete Shutdown of activities.

Further he mentioned that A & N Island has already inoculated 100% of the first dose to the targeted populations and is also on the verge of completing the second dose. Considering the gravity of the situation, he requested the to lift the capacity cap for airlines operating in Andaman & Nicobar and increase the frequency of flight restricted by the Administration owing to COVID-19 pandemic.
